Congratulations, Brother!!! This is the big day of my brother, Hei. He just got MARRIED on October 26, 2002!!!!
Also, this is the first time I could have the chance to participate at a somewhat CHINESE Wedding closely. Let me try to explain it to you guys step by step.
Left: At the night before the wedding, the bride and groom went back to their parents' place. My mother found a relative whom is considered as a lucky guy (he has all the son, daughter, brother, sister, aunt, uncle,....) to COMB my brother's hair. He combed 3 times. During each comb, my grandmother (Right) was saying some very standard lucky words for this situation... you know 一梳梳到尾﹐ 二梳白髮齊眉﹐ 三梳財丁兩旺(My mother changed this one, I guess she doesn't want too many grandkids).
Also, everything on the table is supposed to means something. I don't know all of them though.
Right: In the wedding morning, my brother, accompanied all his groomsmen, went to the bride's place to try to "GET the BRIDE". There they have at least 3 barriers, which include 1)Open-door Red Packet 2)some physicals 3) answering questions about the bride. This picture was when my brother GOT the Bride and came back to our place.
Left: When they got back, they both need to serve tea to all the elder relatives. My mother of course would be the first one.
Right: After serving tea, the bride will got Gold as a gift from the elder relatives. Gold jewelries, always 999.9 gold. It's a habit. Look at her hands.
Left: As Frances, the bride, my sister-in-law now, is a Catholic. So in the afternoon, we had a wedding mass at the church. Look, here we have the new couple in Western wedding outfits in front of the church.
Right: Here's my direct family before the mass. From left to right -- Amy (sister), Pedy (me =D), Frances (Sister-in-law), Hei (Brother), Mother, Karen (Sister) and David (Brother-in-law).
Left: At night, we went to the Kowloon Bay Convention Center to have the reception. Here's the picture of me and my grandmother. My grandmother is really cool! She is about 80-year-old now and still traveling around. Last time, she went to San Francisco with her Tai Chi friends!
Right: I also saw a whole lot of relatives in the reception that night. These are 2 of my cousins, Jacqueline 李樂欣, and 李逸雯. Aren't they cute?
Left: We, the groom's side, were supposed to be the host family. (Just the opposite to America) So while the new couple went around every table and toasted with everybody, we need to follow around. Did those we had in our hand looked like Brandy? It's actually tea! We cheated.
Right: After everybody's gone, I finally have the chance to take a picture with my brother and my new Sister-in-law. I guess they were all tired by that time. Note at the back, we had the Bestman puking. You know, in our weddings, the Bestman is supposed to be the one who takes all the Groom's drinks from others so that the Groom can stay in good shape throughout the whole night. This is a very good evidence that the Bestman was doing a good job that night.
That's pretty much it. It was really a fun day! Hope you understand what I try to explain here. It's not easy to tell in English I'm telling you... =P
